A CITY OF THE DEAD. A PRISON WITHOUT ESCAPE.

In 1666, a sickly comet passed across the sky—and the dead began to rise.

The upheaval was worst in Whitchester, already swollen with refugees from the Great Plague and surrounded by the graves of those killed by disease and civil war. When the plague pits disgorged their dead and the city was overwhelmed, the authorities sealed the gates and ordered that anyone attempting to escape should be killed.

Whitchester became Wightchester: the Prison City of the Damned.

Now the city serves as a prison for criminals, dissidents and others the restored monarchy would rather dispose of without the inconvenience of a public execution. Condemned men and women are cast through the gates and left to survive among the ruins, the desperate living and the hungry dead.

Wightchester: Prison City of the Damned is a complete, self-contained city-crawl setting combining historical detail with bleak, low-fantasy horror.

This is not a conventional linear adventure. Wightchester is a free-roaming setting in which the players decide what survival means:

  • Attempt to escape the city.

  • Establish and defend a fortified refuge.

  • Try to reclaim Wightchester from the undead.

  • Survive long enough to earn release—or die trying.

Blades and gunpowder matter more than magic, and what magic exists comes at a price. Survival is uncertain, character death is an ever-present possibility and the story emerges from the decisions made during play.

Inside you’ll find:

  • A detailed history of Whitchester and the events that transformed it into Wightchester.

  • Extensive historical and setting material concerning seventeenth-century England.

  • A table of crimes to determine why each character was condemned.

  • A complete bestiary with statistics for the supported game systems.

  • New rules and character classes for Mörk Borg.

  • Material for 5e D&D, Grimdark 5e, Mörk Borg and OSR games.

  • A vast prison city in which characters may explore, survive, establish themselves or die.

The Restoration has returned the King to his throne, but England remains divided by politics, religion and the aftermath of civil war. The Royal Society searches for rational answers while alchemists, physicians and natural philosophers attempt to understand a world in which the supernatural has become undeniable.

Inside the walls, such debates are rather less urgent.

The dead are hungry. The gates are sealed. Nobody is coming to save you.
