Tales of the Hot Take, Episode 1: Shakedown Cruise

Shakedown Cruise is the opening episode of Tales of the Hot Take, for use with Machinations of the Space Princess.

The player characters operate from the Hot Take, a rented, second-hand spacecraft constructed before the collapse of the Churoc Trade Federation.

The ship offers:

• Approximately 800 tonnes of cargo capacity.

• A monthly rental payment that must be met.

• Cramped internal spaces.

• Corridors originally designed for shorter occupants.

• A slightly over-cold environment.

• A temperamental computer that sometimes forgets languages.

• Shipboard weapons officially described as anti-space-debris defences.

The Hot Take is not a pristine military vessel or luxurious explorer. It is an ageing working ship whose limitations, cargo capacity and operating costs form part of the crew’s circumstances.
