SEX, MAGIC AND FAR TOO MANY ELVES

Welcome to EroTech: a sexually charged fantasy world in which magic and technology have become thoroughly entangled, the gods are no more trustworthy than anyone else, and even a respectable Regency townhouse may conceal enough trouble to occupy an entire evening.

EroTech Gazetteer Number 1 introduces the unfolding world of EroTech, providing setting background, new character options, divine powers, magical artefacts, creatures, locations, maps, personalities and an adventure set-up ready to bring the whole disreputable business to the table.

This first gazetteer lays down the foundations of the setting while immediately filling it with people and places worth using. Whether you want to create an unusual character, establish a new patron or deity, explore an island city, infest your campaign with mechanical soldiers or host an event at which absolutely nothing improper will happen, this issue gives you plenty to work with.

WELCOME TO EROTECH

EroTech is a fantasy setting shaped by the collision of sorcery, invention, religion, politics and desire.

This gazetteer provides the background needed to begin exploring that world, while leaving plenty of room for Games Masters to adapt, expand and corrupt it according to their own tastes.

The material can be used as the foundation of an EroTech campaign or dismantled for parts. Introduce one of the character options into another fifth-edition game. Borrow a patron, deity or artefact. Use Tegrum as a port of call. Drop the townhouse into a city and see what happens when the characters are invited inside.

It is all intended to be played with, not preserved behind glass.

AUTOMATA, HELLBLOODED AND ELVES

The Automaton provides a character option for players who find ordinary flesh unnecessarily vulnerable, inefficient or lacking in interesting maintenance requirements.

Automata offer another way to experience the world of EroTech: created rather than born, constructed for some purpose and now obliged to decide what to do with themselves. They may be servants, soldiers, curiosities or independent beings struggling against whatever role their makers intended for them.

The Hellblooded introduce another set of character possibilities, carrying an infernal legacy into a world already well supplied with temptation, corruption and people making questionable bargains.

Then there are the elves.

There are a great many elves.

Rather than treating them as a single interchangeable collection of beautiful forest-dwellers, the gazetteer provides a profusion of elven possibilities for player characters, supporting characters and entire cultures. Games Masters in need of another variety of elf will not leave disappointed.

Games Masters who believe fantasy already contains too many elves may at least enjoy having their worst suspicions confirmed.

FAITH, BLASPHEMY AND BLOOD

Religion in EroTech is not necessarily a source of comfort.

For those who draw divine power while harbouring a profound dislike of the gods themselves, the gazetteer offers a god-hating divine domain. Faith, resentment and supernatural power are not always mutually exclusive. Sometimes the best-informed response to discovering that the gods are real is to dislike them even more intensely.

Odozarra, Goddess of Blood, provides another divine power for the setting. Blood is life, inheritance, sacrifice, violence, passion and power. A deity claiming dominion over it has no shortage of potential worshippers—or victims.

For those who prefer their supernatural relationships contractual, personal and probably unwise, Baron Kadaggar appears as a new warlock patron.

A warlock’s bargain is always an opportunity.

Usually for the patron.

THE RED ROPE SERPENT

The Red Rope Serpent is a new artefact ready to be introduced as treasure, temptation, plot device or the cause of an escalating series of catastrophes.

Artefacts should be more than improved pieces of equipment. They should have histories, implications and enough personality to make their owners wonder whether possessing them was ever a good idea.

Place the Red Rope Serpent at the centre of an expedition, a theft, a religious dispute or a struggle between factions. Let the characters pursue it, protect it or discover that somebody far more dangerous already considers it theirs.

THE ISLAND CITY OF TEGRUM

The island city of Tegrum provides a new destination for EroTech adventures.

An island city naturally offers commerce, travellers, sailors, intrigue and the useful possibility that anyone causing too much trouble will eventually need a boat. Tegrum can become a temporary stopping point, a recurring base of operations or the centre of an entire campaign.

Use it as a place to introduce new characters, strange cargoes, political complications and opportunities that sound significantly safer before the details are explained.

The gazetteer also includes a typical Regency-style townhouse, complete with maps.

The townhouse can be used as:

  • The home of a wealthy patron

  • The headquarters of a secret society

  • The scene of a theft, seduction or murder

  • A respectable exterior concealing thoroughly disreputable activity

  • A recurring urban location

  • The setting for The Blue Ball

  • A ready-made building for another fantasy campaign

A mapped building is one of the most useful things a Games Master can possess. Sooner or later, the players will decide to burgle it.

THE BLUE BALL

The Blue Ball is an adventure set-up bringing together social intrigue, colourful personalities and the near certainty that events will not proceed according to the host’s plans.

A ball offers possibilities that a dungeon does not. Weapons may be concealed rather than carried openly. Enemies must smile at one another. Alliances can be made in drawing rooms, corridors and secluded corners. Reputation may prove as important as armour, while a single indiscretion can be more destructive than a fireball.

Naturally, there is no reason that events cannot eventually include both indiscretion and fireballs.

The adventure introduces several characters suitable for use during the ball or elsewhere in the campaign:

Captain Luther “Snakebeard” Silk brings the experience and questionable respectability of a pirate captain.

Michelle, the piratical dragon turtle, demonstrates that piracy is not restricted by species, anatomy or the practical difficulties of fitting an enormous reptile with a hat.

The Blue Death and The Little Death complete the named cast, offering further personalities for the Games Master to deploy, develop or unleash upon unsuspecting players.

Use The Blue Ball as a complete evening’s entertainment, the beginning of a longer plot or a social disaster whose consequences continue throughout the campaign.

THE YEGIS SOLDIER AUTOMATON

The Yegis Soldier Automaton provides a new mechanical adversary for the game.

Deploy one as a guard, enforcer or relic of some older conflict. Deploy several when subtlety has failed. Use them as opponents, obstacles, military assets or evidence that somebody with access to dangerous technology has begun manufacturing soldiers.

An automaton does not tire, become distracted or accept a bribe.

At least, not without the correct modifications.

BEGIN YOUR EROTECH CAMPAIGN

EroTech Gazetteer Number 1 is a toolbox as much as it is an introduction.

Use everything together to begin exploring the world of EroTech, or take individual elements and introduce them wherever they will cause the greatest amount of entertainment. The character options can expand a fifth-edition campaign, Tegrum can be placed in another fantasy world, and the townhouse can host conspiracies, assignations and bloodshed almost anywhere.

EroTech is the official fantasy role-playing setting of Tabletopless, where adult performers and experienced role-players explore dangerous worlds and distinctly grown-up adventures.

You can find the other EroTech Gazetteers and supplements here.

The guests are arriving.

The automata are standing guard.

The pirate dragon turtle has somehow obtained an invitation.

Welcome to EroTech.
