The Art of Gor is a digital art book collecting Michael Manning’s illustrations for Tales of Gor: Gorean Roleplaying and the World of Gor encyclopaedia.

Removed from the restrictions of rulebook layouts, captions and surrounding text, the pictures are presented at a scale that allows Manning’s detail, composition and distinctive linework to be properly appreciated.

Warriors, slaves, travellers, Gorean beasts and scenes from across the Counter-Earth combine into a visual journey through John Norman’s planetary-romance setting.

Michael Manning’s Counter-Earth

Michael Manning is an accomplished comic-book and fetish artist whose elegant, precise style is particularly well suited to Gor.

His illustrations are sensual, severe, theatrical and occasionally grotesque. They capture both the adventure and the adult character of the setting without reducing it to generic barbarians, interchangeable fantasy cities or strategically positioned fur bikinis.

This collection presents Manning’s own vision of Gor: beautiful, dangerous and deeply peculiar.
