Kingdom (PDF)
THE DARK DOESN’T JUST HIDE THINGS. IT LIES.
Beneath the bone-white chalk hills of Southern England, the ground gives way.
A tavern and its occupants are swallowed into the earth, casting the survivors into a buried realm of total darkness, crawling horror and fearful monstrosity.
Sight cannot be trusted. The other senses may prove little better.
Kingdom is a high-concept OSR adventure for characters of levels 2–4, written primarily for use with Lamentations of the Flame Princess.
Trapped underground, the characters must contend with a hostile environment, terrified survivors and dangers they may hear, smell or feel long before they understand what is hunting them. Every movement is a risk, every sense may mislead them and every step could be their last.
Within the darkness lie Roman curses, tribal inhumanity—and worse.
Kingdom brings horror back underground, stripping away the certainty of sight and forcing players to confront the unknown through whatever fragmentary information their remaining senses provide.
This is not a brightly lit sequence of rooms waiting to be cleared.
It is an adventure of confusion, fear, vulnerability and the terrible knowledge that something may be standing close enough to touch.
