Giallo 0002: The Memorial (PDF)
NOTHING IN THIS HOSPITAL IS QUITE WHAT IT SEEMS
The Ernest Spencer Memorial is an ageing, run-down hospital with a troubled history.
Its psychiatric ward is populated by patients, medical staff and doctors whose behaviour is often stranger than that of the people they are supposed to be treating. Unusual events occur with disturbing frequency, and nobody can be entirely certain where incompetence, criminality and human cruelty end—and where something genuinely supernatural begins.
Giallo 0002: The Memorial is a contemporary horror adventure context inspired by Italian thrillers, exploitation cinema and surreal hospital horror.
Players may take the roles of:
-
Doctors.
-
Nurses.
-
Other hospital staff.
-
Patients.
-
Investigators or outsiders drawn into events at the Memorial.
A NARRATIVE SANDBOX
The Memorial is not built around a rigid sequence of scenes or a single predetermined conclusion.
Instead, it presents a hospital, its inhabitants, its history and numerous potential conflicts. The Games Master decides which elements to emphasise, while the actions of the players determine how events develop.
The scenario can be approached as:
-
A giallo-style thriller.
-
A story of medical corruption and human wrongdoing.
-
Supernatural horror.
-
A mixture of mundane and otherworldly explanations.
