Foul Humours

The human body is mostly water.

Unfortunately, very little of it is pleasant once it gets out.

Foul Humours is a compact OSR supplement of disgusting monsters and dark magic created from blood, spittle, urine and other substances normally best kept inside their original owner.

Slimes and oozes have always occupied a proud place in fantasy gaming, patiently dissolving adventurers who mistake an apparently empty room for good fortune. This booklet takes that tradition somewhere wetter, nastier and considerably more personal.

The results can be dropped into dungeons, laboratories, plague pits, sewers, torture chambers and the homes of wizards whose experiments have escaped both their vessels and conventional standards of hygiene.

Bodily Horror for the Dungeon

These creatures are built around visceral disgust.

They leak, smear, clot, congeal and otherwise behave in ways likely to make players recoil before they have even heard the game statistics. They can serve as isolated horrors, the products of failed magic or symptoms of something much larger and more revolting.

The accompanying magical material follows the same principle, turning human effluvia into a source of supernatural power.

It is grubby, grotesque and entirely unsuited to anyone who believes fantasy magic should always arrive as a tasteful shower of golden sparks.

Rough as Toast

Foul Humours was released under the Rough as Toast imprint.

These are deliberately cheap, nasty and experimental products: peculiar ideas produced without pretending that every concept requires a leather-bound campaign setting, twelve supplements and a commemorative dice tower.

Some experiments produce gold.

Others produce an ambulatory pool of infected mucus.

Science advances either way.

Schlocktoberfest

The booklet was created as part of Schlocktoberfest, an exercise in pulp productivity: strange, lurid and occasionally ridiculous ideas thrown at the wall to discover what sticks.

In this particular case, asking what has stuck to the wall may be medically inadvisable.
