WONDERLAND HAS GONE ROTTEN

Alice has suffered a terrible kitchen accident.

The sort involving machinery.

The sort after which one traditionally expects an ambulance, a funeral and perhaps a sternly worded investigation by the Health and Safety Executive.

Instead, Alice finds herself in pieces, cast down into a horrific underworld built from everything the respectable world throws away.

Alice through the Garbage Grinder is a grotesque, surreal continuation of Alice’s adventures: a journey through rubbish, slime, sewage and detritus in search of the missing pieces of herself.

Wonderland was strange.

This place is actively unsanitary.

DOWN THE WASTE PIPE

Alice’s previous adventures carried her through impossible gardens, royal courts and looking-glass worlds governed by dreams, wordplay and contradictory logic.

This time, she enters through the garbage grinder.

Beneath the kitchens and drains lies an entire discarded world—a foul underbelly inhabited by strange yet familiar people, transformed by filth, decay and the machinery of disposal.

Everything unwanted must go somewhere.

Broken things.

Spoiled things.

Forgotten things.

Pieces of little girls unfortunate enough to become entangled in kitchen appliances.

As Alice travels deeper into this repulsive realm, she must recover what she has lost and determine whether putting herself back together is even possible.

The Alice who emerges may not be the same Alice who fell in.

A GROTESQUE NEW WONDERLAND

Alice through the Garbage Grinder takes the absurdity, dream logic and unsettling undertones of Lewis Carroll’s stories and pushes them through the blades of body horror, black comedy and modern waste.

This is a world of:

• Rubbish and discarded things

• Slime, sewage and decay

• Grotesque transformations

• Strange but recognisable figures

• Surreal conversations and impossible situations

• Questions of identity and reality

• Black humour

• A heroine attempting to reassemble herself both literally and figuratively

The familiar becomes foul.

The whimsical becomes visceral.

The nonsense remains nonsense, but now it smells considerably worse.

PICKING UP THE PIECES

Alice’s journey is not merely a search for missing body parts.

As she passes through this nightmarish underworld, she begins to question what is real, what she remembers and whether she herself possesses any reality beyond the adventures inflicted upon her.

Is she a person?

A character?

A collection of pieces held together by somebody else’s story?

If she recovers everything that was lost, will she truly be whole—or merely assembled?

The deeper Alice travels, the less reliable the boundary becomes between physical mutilation, personal transformation and the peculiar demands of narrative.

She must gather herself together.

She must decide what “herself” means.

Then she must find a way out.

HORROR, ABSURDITY AND BLACK COMEDY

This is not a gentle children’s continuation written to reproduce the respectable surface of Victorian fantasy.

Carroll’s Alice stories were always stranger, sharper and more unsettling than their nursery reputation suggests. Their worlds operate according to rules nobody explains, authority is arbitrary, identity is unstable and violence is treated with the breezy confidence of people who expect somebody else to clean up afterwards.

Alice through the Garbage Grinder draws upon that inheritance while taking it somewhere darker, dirtier and more grotesque.

The result combines:

• Surreal fantasy

• Literary parody

• Body horror

• Absurdist humour

• Philosophical nonsense

• Grotesque adventure

• Familiar imagery dragged through the refuse

It is for readers who like their Wonderland interpretations twisted, irreverent and unafraid to leave unpleasant stains upon the tablecloth.

STRANGE, YET FAMILIAR

Alice is not entirely alone beneath the world.

During her journey she encounters people who seem familiar, though familiarity offers little reassurance in a place where everything has passed through the machinery of waste, decomposition and transformation.

Old ideas return in altered forms.

Recognisable figures emerge from unrecognisable surroundings.

Conversations follow their own peculiar logic.

Helpful advice may prove actively dangerous.

Hostility may be indistinguishable from hospitality.

Everyone appears to understand the rules except Alice—and none of them agree upon what those rules actually are.

In that respect, at least, some things have not changed.

AN ALICE FOR THE DISCARDED WORLD

The garbage grinder is more than an inconvenient entrance.

It leads to the place beneath consumption: the world of leftovers, sewage, packaging, waste and everything pushed out of sight once it ceases to be useful.

Wonderland reflected the absurdities of manners, language and authority.

The world beneath the grinder reflects what happens after polite society has finished eating.

Alice must travel through the consequences.

She is chopped apart, discarded and expected to disappear.

Instead, she continues.

Piece by piece, encounter by encounter, she becomes stronger—and stranger.
